A New Year’s interfaith parade of lights along the sands of Huntington Beach is expected to draw more than 1,000 participants, organizers said.

The Jan. 7 Procession of Light, sponsored by the Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council, will feature more than 15 faiths, including congregants from the Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities.

Prayers, songs (from choirs and bands), and chants will be part of the three-hour program, which begins at 3 p.m. at the Pier Plaza. At sunset, participants will be given “glow sticks” and will walk as a group along the boardwalk.
