San Francisco’s M.H. de Young Museum, known for its Rockefeller Collection of American Art and works from the ancient Americas, Oceania and Africa, will close Jan. 1 for four years while its new $165-million home is built. Its current quarters, eight buildings in Golden Gate Park, were damaged in the 1989 earthquake. The museum’s $7-per-adult admission will be waived Tuesday through next Sunday. . . . Expedia.com, the online travel Web site, has opened a 50-seat cafe at San Jose International Airport, in the heart of silicon-land. It offers free online access to those with laptops and serves what are called “travel-themed drink concoctions.”
