Harvey Entertainment Co., which owns the rights to Casper the Friendly Ghost, Richie Rich and other cartoon characters, said Wednesday that Rick Mischel had resigned as the company’s president. It gave no reason for the resignation.

Harvey shares were unchanged at 9 cents on the Nasdaq Stock Market.

The Los Angeles-based company said Mischel will remain as a consultant to focus on Harvey projects such as a Richie Rich TV pilot for the Warner Bros. Network and a film featuring teen-star Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Harvey Entertainment, whose shares have fallen 98% this year, also said Glenn Weisberger will give up his duties as chief financial officer and remain as part-time general counsel.

A spokesman said the company is looking at ways to conserve cash.

Harvey said on Nov. 1 that a $30-million equity investment by New York-based Classic Media had fallen through because the parties could not agree on terms.
