Rose Bowl to Boost Airport Traffic

Share

Air traffic at Burbank Airport will be heavier than usual this weekend as parade-goers and football fans fly into the area for New Year’s activities.

Airport officials expect more corporate jets and fixed-wing aircraft at the airport today and Saturday in advance of Monday’s Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl game, said airport spokesman Victor Gill. An exodus of planes is expected Monday evening as people head home after the game.

In addition to the small planes, five F-18 fighter jets from the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team will be staging operations from Burbank Airport. The F-18s will fly over the parade route and the Golden Knights are scheduled to jump at the beginning of the procession. There will also be a flyover and parachute jump at the Rose Bowl before game time.
