Electronics Items to Be Recycled

Share

The city is sponsoring an electronics recycling day Jan. 6, when people can bring in old computers, television sets and microwaves that would otherwise be tossed into the trash.

Working or nonworking electronics items will be taken at no cost and either prepared for reuse or recycled, said Kate Thomas, environmental programs assistant.

HMR, a Gardena-based recycling company, will collect the items. Tax receipts will not be available. Some machines will be used in Ventura County by prison inmates learning how to repair computers and accessories.

The event is open only to residents of Thousand Oaks and Moorpark and will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Conejo Valley Unified School District parking lot, 1400 E. Janss Road.

At the same time and place, residents can bring their Christmas trees for recycling into mulch. Additional mulch and free compost will also be available.
