New High School to Break Ground

Ventura Unified’s first new high school in 30 years will break ground Thursday morning.

The 10 o’clock event will be held at 100 Day Road, the site of the new Foothill Technology High School.

The school will offer the same basic curriculum as other high schools, but will feature two career specialties: communications and health sciences.

The first phase of construction, which begins this month, will include the administration building, media and library center and a cafeteria, along with two learning centers. This phase is scheduled to be completed by December.

Parking for the groundbreaking is limited, but guests can park at the district office at 120 Santa Clara Road and ride a shuttle bus to the event.

Students will begin their first semester this fall at temporary facilities on the Ventura College campus, across the street from the permanent site.
