The 2,250 signatures on the petition against the Gate 12 project presented to the Golden Rain Foundation’s board Tuesday are not substantial enough to reverse the decision to build the multipurpose facility, a board member said. Maurice Kravitz said the Residents Reform Committee, a grass-roots organization that circulated the petition, proposed nothing as an alternative and didn’t even devise a plan to vote on the issue. But to members of the Residents Reform Committee, the fight has just begun. John Lathrop, founder of the committee, will send a copy of the petition this week to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, which oversees the sale of property owned by the Golden Rain Foundation. He hopes to prevent financing of the multimillion-dollar project.
