The Laguna Beach Firefighters’ Assn., a 39-member union within the city’s Fire Department, wants to let voters decide if their services should be consolidated with the county’s. The firefighters say they are understaffed, have an antiquated dispatch system and are without a fire prevention bureau to ensure compliance with the city’s fire code. They have collected more than 3,300 signatures to get an initiative placed on the November city ballot.
