Laguna Beach Converts All 22 From Line in OT

Travis Hanour scored 16 of his 43 points in overtime as Laguna Beach defeated University, 87-75, in a Pacific Coast League game Friday night at University.

Hanour made all 12 of his free throws in overtime, in which Laguna Beach (6-17, 3-4) outscored the Trojans, 26-14.

The Artists made all 22 of their free-throw attempts in overtime and were 30-32 for the game.

Andy Lawrence scored 28 points, including six three-pointers, for University (15-9, 4-2).

In another Pacific Coast League game:

Corona del Mar 58, Estancia 55--Kevin Hanson scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter for the host Sea Kings (18-6, 4-2) who made nine of 11 fourth-quarter free throws. Elisar Maldonado had 18 points for Estancia (14-11, 2-5).

In the Century League:

Canyon 85, El Modena 64--Derron Putnam had 20 points and Jamal Taylor 15 for the host Comanches (12-10, 5-2). El Modena fell to 7-16, 2-5.

Foothill 99, Santa Ana Valley 69--Chad Bigler had 23 points and Roger Hogan had 22 points and 17 assists for visiting Foothill (12-12, 5-3).

No. 3 Villa Park 68, Orange 41--Because of suspensions for fighting in its previous game, Orange played its second unit and junior varsity. Villa Park responded by playing a similar squad, and took a 24-6 lead after the first quarter. Tommy Stankan and Matt Waldrop each had 15 points for first-place Villa Park (21-2, 8-0).

In the Freeway League:

Buena Park 47, La Habra 46--D’Andre Gipson scored 25 points for Buena Park (12-10, 2-6), which rallied from a 29-20 halftime deficit. Jason Smallwood scored 20 points for host La Habra (12-11, 5-3).

No. 5 Troy 60, Fullerton 58--Mark Wahlberg put back his own missed shot with under a minute remaining for Troy.

Fullerton had an opportunity to win in the final 30 seconds, but a missed three-pointer and a defensive rebound by Mike Leslie sealed the victory for No. 5 Troy.

Wahlberg finished the game with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Leslie added 13 points for the first-place Warriors (22-2, 7-1). Puhk-Maan Sidhu scored 17 points for Fullerton (16-6, 4-4).

In the Garden Grove League:

Bolsa Grande 72, Rancho Alamitos 54--Will Montgomery scored 21 points and Omar Amaral had 17 points and seven assists for the host Matadors (19-5, 10-0). Denny Bremer had 16 points for Rancho Alamitos (10-13, 3-7).

Garden Grove 59, Santiago 47--Kevin Benoit had 12 points for host Garden Grove (6-15, 4-9). Spike Soriano scored 18 points for Santiago (2-22, 1-12).

In the Golden West League:

No. 2 Ocean View 83, Westminster 36--Marques Crane led Ocean View (23-3, 7-0) with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and teammate Torin Beeler had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Santa Ana 47, Saddleback 39--Darnell Graham scored 20 points for Santa Ana (7-16, 5-2). Ishmael Isais was the leading scorer for host Saddleback (5-17, 3-4) with 14 points.

In the Olympic League:

Calvary Chapel 49, Sierra Madre Maranatha 45--Joshua Sherman had 16 points and eight steals for host Calvary Chapel (15-9, 5-3).

Orange Lutheran 73, Whittier Christian 50--Jason Whieldon scored 28 points, including four three-pointers, and had seven assists and five steals for Orange Lutheran (19-4, 7-1). Patrick Salyer added six points, 14 rebounds, five assists and three blocks for the first-place Lancers.

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 58, Western 33--Ryan Moore scored 16 points and had five steals for host Brea Olinda (18-6, 7-1), which led, 45-13, at the half. The Wildcats remain in first place. Western is 6-16, 0-8.

Valencia 50, Anaheim 42--Emmanuel Ortega had 20 points and Ben Jones 15 for visiting Valencia (11-13, 5-3). Jesus Salcedo scored 17 for Anaheim (13-10, 3-5).

In the Sunset League:

No. 4 Marina 55, Huntington Beach 41--Dustin Kaatz had 23 points and 12 rebounds for the host Vikings (22-2, 8-0). Huntington Beach fell to 4-20, 1-7.

No. 6 Los Alamitos 59, Fountain Valley 47--Ron Prettyman scored 22 points for Los Alamitos (19-4, 7-1). Prettyman was the only player in double figures for either team. Fountain Valley fell to 13-11, 2-6.
