A juvenile spectator was taken into custody Saturday after coming out of the stands and punching an Alemany High wrestler during the Frontier League championships at Chaminade, according to police.

Marcos Herrera of Alemany, who went on to win the league title in the 154-pound class, had Evan Goldson of Calabasas in what Coach Greg Behrens of Chaminade termed a “guillotine hold” during a preliminary match when the spectator punched Hererra.

“According to the person in custody, when the referee didn’t call the match, the person in custody thought [Goldson] was going to get hurt, so he took matters into his own hands, so to speak,” said Lt. Jill Niles of the Los Angeles Police Department. “The individual in custody is very remorseful.”
