MISSION VIEJO
The City Council voted Monday to place four additional crossing guards at three elementary and middle schools in the city.
One crossing guard will be placed at Via Santa Maria near Barcelona Elementary, another will be placed at Via Grande near Viejo Elementary.
The other two crossing guards will be placed at Newhart Middle School on La Paz Road. Dennis Wilberg, director of public works, said All City Management Services Inc. recommended placing two crossing guards at Newhart to better control the intersection.
The guards are paid $8,600 each annually.
