Crawford Must Repay $15,000

Michigan’s leading scorer, freshman Jamal Crawford, must repay Seattle businessman Barry Henthorn an estimated $15,000 before he completes his college eligibility, the NCAA has ruled.

Crawford is practicing with the team and attending classes, but cannot play until Feb. 24, against Purdue.

Connecticut players Tony Robertson and Doug Wrenn were cleared of any criminal wrongdoing after an investigation into allegations they offered game tickets in exchange for clothing, police said, and they have been reinstated to the team. . . . Wake Forest forward Niki Arinze will sit out the rest of the season because of an ankle injury. . . . Auburn sophomore forward David Hamilton said he will not return to the team, choosing instead to remain in California after his grandfather’s funeral in Compton. . . . Portland State’s Matt Elliott and Eastern Washington’s Will Levy were suspended for one game each by the Big Sky Conference for fighting during a game last week. . . . David Lipscomb freshman Kaia Jergenson, who last month contracted meningitis, had her condition upgraded from critical to fair. Last month, doctors amputated her legs below the knee.
