Notre Dame Runs Streak to 16
Alicia Ratay scored 20 points and Ruth Riley added 19 as No. 5 Notre Dame survived an inconsistent performance and defeated Pittsburgh, 81-74, in a Big East Conference game Wednesday at South Bend, Ind.
The victory extended Notre Dame’s school-record winning streak to 16.
The Irish (20-2, 11-0) committed 27 turnovers but made up for it by shooting 18 of 26 in the second half.
Mandy Wittenmeyer and Brooke Stewart led the Panthers (13-9, 4-7 Big East) with 15 points apiece.
In the other game involving a ranked team, No. 10 Rutgers (16-4, 8-2 in the Big East) defeated Providence, 81-68, at Providence, R.I. It was the Scarlet Knights’ fifth consecutive victory.
