La Canada dominated boys’ soccer from 1995-97 when it was 50-0 while outscoring opponents, 273-13.

To Coach Louie Bilowitz’s surprise, La Canada (15-2-2) is as strong as ever. Bilowitz, who insisted this was going to be a rebuilding year, is delighted the Spartans won their 11th league title in 13 years with a 3-0 victory over San Marino last Friday.

“I’m shocked, but I’ve never had a team this coachable before,” said Bilowitz, whose team has outscored opponents, 52-12. “We don’t dominate games. The games are always close, but the guys find a way to pull it out.”

La Canada’s lone senior, Britton Cobb, leads the team with 19 goals and 13 assists, but the Spartans’ strength has been defense, led by Eric Irvine and George Swaner.

Harvard-Westlake goalkeeper Sara Deckers has committed to American University in Washington, D.C.

Chaminade goalkeeper Sara Leibowitz, who has allowed only four goals this season, will take a recruiting trip to Washington State next week.
