‘Tiffany’ Author Sees History in Fancy Baubles

In “Tiffany Jewels,” Tiffany & Co. design director John Loring traces the history of the internationally renowned jeweler, whose creations have been worn by the world’s elite over the past two centuries.

The color-illustrated book also profiles the company’s designers and contains newly discovered designs and anecdotes. Anyone who was anyone, it seems, simply had to own Tiffany jewelry--from Queen Victoria to Elizabeth Taylor. Not to mention various Astors, Pulitzers and Stanfords and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

“In a larger sense, the book is a chronicle of the evolution of American society, wealth and style over the course of eight generations,” says Loring, Tiffany’s design director since 1979 and the author of eight other books under the Tiffany name.
