SAN CLEMENTE
The city became the newest addition to the Professional Surfing Tour of America recently when the City Council unanimously approved a request from the tour to stage an event here Memorial Day weekend.
The competition will take place in an area on the north side of San Clemente Pier reserved for surfing. The contest area extends 400 feet north of the pier, leaving another 400 feet of ocean for beach-goers to use that weekend. The event is scheduled for May 25-28.
