FULLERTON
Fullerton has selected an architectural firm to do the construction drawings for a $9-million police facility expansion and remodeling project.
Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum Inc. of Santa Monica, which conducted space studies and other preliminary work, will draft design and floor plans for the city at a cost of $658,440. The firm will begin with the drawings next month, and city officials hope to begin construction early next year.
Construction costs will be funded by the redevelopment agency, but $6.2 million is available from bond proceeds and project interest earnings. The $2.8-million balance will be paid over a two-year period starting in 2001, city officials said.
