Creighton Player Dismissed From Team

Creighton Coach Dana Altman kicked senior forward Nerijus Karlikanovas off the team for violations of team rules. Karlikanovas was the team’s third-leading scorer with a 9.5-point average. Altman declined to say what the violations involved.

In other news: Old Dominion Coach Jeff Capel signed a two-year contract extension, guaranteeing a base salary of $127,000 a year through the 2002 season. . . . Kansas Coach Roy Williams said speculation that he is in line to become coach at North Carolina is unfounded. But Williams said he will be flying to Chapel Hill, N.C., to see his daughter perform on a student dance team during a Tar Heel game. “If my daughter’s dancing next Wednesday night, I’m going to go back to watch my daughter dance,” he said. “I can’t let peoples’ perceptions and rumors run my life.”
