Santa Paula Teachers Win Science Grant

* A group of five teachers at Isbell Middle School in Santa Paula received a $1,190 grant from the Amgen Science Project Program to support a student project. Lisa Darling, Cyndi King-Le Vander, Joseph Jauregui, Theresa Van Etten and Art Lopez will present “Flight--Overcoming Gravity,” offering 330 sixth-grade students a lesson in how birds and planes fly.

Conejo Council Names Art Show Winners * The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley announced the winners of its “Hang With the Best” student juried art show.

The middle school winners are Carissa McQueen, Los Altos Middle School, first place for “Simplicity”; Kim Nakashima, Cornerstone Christian School, second place for “Sunset”; and Allison Selinger, Colina Middle School, third place for “Impressions of Solitude.”

The high school winners are Reed Murray, Thousand Oaks High, Best of Show for “Silently Brooding”; Nick Edwards, Camarillo High, first place for an untitled work; Shauna Oster, Newbury Park High, second place for “Ant”; Meredith Nevard, Camarillo High, third place for an untitled work.
