Interfaith Council Receives $500,000
The San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council has received a $500,000 grant to expand its senior citizens health-care programs.
The grant--to be paid out over three years--was awarded to the nonprofit, nonsectarian agency by the California Endowment, the state’s largest private funder of health-care programs, officials said.
Council officials said the money will be used to expand case management services at its three Valley multipurpose senior centers. The services involve referring elderly residents to physical, mental and emotional health-care resources in the community.
The council will use a portion of the grant to seek accreditation to further expand its case management services, officials said.
Organized in 1964, the council is made up of 400 congregations, corporations and individuals of diverse faiths who work together to promote interfaith, interracial and multicultural understanding.
