A local business owner must follow the rules governing signs along Pacific Coast Highway.
The City Council feared bending the rules Tuesday night when it upheld a Planning Commission decision that denied a service station owner’s request for a sign that exceeds city height standards.
The council unanimously denied the request because of concerns that other business owners near the Monarch Bay area would follow suit.
Bob Lintz, the owner of a Chevron station in the 32800 block of PCH, asked the Planning Commission in December for permission to erect a 6-foot sign near the street, exceeding the 4-foot limit.
