HUNTINGTON BEACH
An expert panel is expected to conclude a three-day workshop Wednesday by giving an oral presentation on the causes of last summer’s beach contamination and what can be done to prevent a recurrence.
The event, sponsored by the University of Southern California’s Sea Grant program, aims to clear up the mystery surrounding the high bacteria levels in the ocean that forced the closure of more than four miles of shoreline.
The panel includes representatives from Heal the Bay and the federal Environmental Protection Agency.
The presentation begins at 1 p.m. at the Newport Sheraton Hotel, 4545 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach.
