IRVINE

Share

Nearly 150 residents gathered information on the 12-mile Irvine segment of the CenterLine project last week at the Lakeview Senior Center. The leg is one part of a proposed 27-mile transit system that would eventually extend to Fullerton.

Planners have drafted three possible CenterLine routes through Irvine. Two routes would pass either on or next to the San Diego Freeway, while a third option, the so-called San Diego Creek alignment, would run through parts of Westpark and Woodbridge.

Most people agreed that the “creek alignment” would serve Irvine best. But some said they weren’t convinced of the need for a train.

The City Council is set to choose a preferred alignment in June or July, according to city officials.
