An aviation attorney representing the city in its dispute with the U.S. Marine Corps defended her comments and the comments of City Council members regarding a proposed helicopter training facility at Camp Pendleton. Barbara Lichman and council members had criticized Marines as being secretive and misleading regarding the project. Last week, the Marines issued a letter saying those criticisms were unfounded. Marines’ community liaison Larry Rannals said in the letter that the Marine Corps “has in good faith provided the city manager and members of the council . . . with straightforward, factual and detailed information” about the landing field.
