From Times Wire Reports

An apparently healthy newborn girl was found abandoned in the diaper section of a grocery store in Denver, her umbilical cord still attached, police said. The infant was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where she was doing well, spokeswoman Stephanie Denning said. “Right now she’s doing all the things that a normal newborn would do,” Denning said. Doctors estimated that the girl was born sometime on New Year’s Day or early Sunday, two to 24 hours before she was found. Investigators were trying to find her parents but had no leads. The infant probably will be placed in foster care, police spokeswoman Virginia Lopez said. She said she could not discuss possible charges until a suspect is found.
