Veronica Johns-Richardson

Troy, Basketball

Troy passed its test against the county’s best last week, and Johns-Richardson averaged 22 points in four games to help the Warriors defeat four Orange County top-10 teams to win the Edison Orange County Championship. Johns-Richardson had 20 points, five assists and five steals to help Troy defeat second-ranked Mater Dei, 60-56, in the final.

Tournament MVP scored 17 points in a 54-42 victory over Villa Park in the Costa Mesa tournament final.

Capistrano Valley, Soccer

Scored four goals in the Excalibur tournament, including one in a 2-0 victory over Woodbridge in the final.

Travis Hanour

Laguna Beach, Basketball

Hanour helped the Artists win the Century tournament last week by delivering in the clutch. He made 16 of 17 free throws to help seal the victory in the championship game and he finished with 38 points to help Laguna Beach defeat Bellflower St. John Bosco, 64-60. Hanour also began the tournament strong, scoring 26 points in a 79-49 first-round victory over El Modena.

Bolsa Grande, Basketball

Averaged 21 points and eight assists to help the Matadors win the Katella tournament title.

Huntington Beach, Soccer

Scored five goals in five games, including one in a 3-1 victory over Mater Dei in the Marina tournament final.
