Blocked Pipe Causes 5,000-Gallon Spill

Share

A blocked pipe caused 5,000 gallons of sewage to spill from a manhole into Santa Paula Creek early Tuesday, the county Environmental Health Division reported.

The discharge began at 7:45 a.m. and continued for about a half an hour, officials said. But enough waste had spilled into the creek at Say Road in Santa Paula to prompt county officials to post warnings along the creek to the mouth of the Santa Clara River.

County health officials urge people to avoid contact with those waterways until midmorning Friday.

No beaches were closed or posted with warnings as a result of the spill.
