‘Twenty One,’ ‘Winning Lines’ Join Growing Millionaire Club

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” returns to ABC, as CBS and NBCalso throw their hats into the game-show ring. Fox offers a delightful new comedy series, and Sci-Fi premieres its latest adventure show.

A four-episode arc concludes the first season of the acclaimed adventure series “Farscape,” Friday at 5 and 8 p.m. on Sci-Fi Channel.

In the new series “Lexx,” Friday at 7 and 10 p.m. on the Sci-Fi Channel, four misfits accidentally steal the world’s most powerful weapon of destruction.

The latest edition of A&E;’s “Midsomer Murders,” Saturday at 6 and 10 p.m., finds inspectors Barnaby and Troy investigating the slaying of a wealthy developer.

CBS gets into the game-show frenzy with “Winning Lines,” Saturday at 8 p.m. Contestants vie for $1 million by answering questions with numerical answers. Dick Clark hosts.

“Grand Ole Opry Live,” Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on TNN, returns to the legendary Ryman Auditorium for this month’s telecasts.

Maury Povich is the host of NBC’s entry in the game-show derby, “Twenty One,” Sunday at 8 p.m. Based on the legendary series from the ‘50s, “Twenty One” features contestants attempting to earn millions of dollars in cash prizes.

Frankie Muniz headlines Fox’s “Malcolm in the Middle,” Sunday at 8:30 p.m., an offbeat, quirky new comedy series about a dysfunctional but loving family.

ABC’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” returns to the ABC lineup, Sunday at 9 p.m. The series will run for eight consecutive days before setting into a three-day-a-week schedule.

“The E! True Hollywood Story” kicks off the new year with “Dennis the Menace Revealed-The Jay North Story,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on E!

USA’s popular action series “La Femme Nikita” returns for a new season, Sunday at 9 p.m.

The gay and lesbian newsmagazine “In the Life,” Sunday at 11 p.m. on KCET, profiles a North Carolina teen who challenges censorship against youth and a man fighting for the right to use marijuana for medical purposes.

“Louis Rukeyser’s 2000 Money Guide,” Friday at 9 p.m. on KCET, features the commentator examining economic, political and social trends.

TNN celebrates what would have been the King’s 65th birthday with “He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley,” Saturday at 9 p.m. The documentary features Presley performances, photos and interviews with friends and other musicians.

Showtime presents “Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman,” Sunday at 8 p.m. Taped during the last Broadway performance of the Tony Award-winning revival, the classic drama stars Brian Dennehy as Willy Loman and Elizabeth Franz as his wife.

CBS offers “The 26th Annual People’s Choice Awards,” Sunday at 9 p.m. Nominees were determined by a public opinion poll by the Gallup Organization. “The Sixth Sense,” “The Blair Witch Project,” Julia Roberts and Ricky Martin are among top vote-getters.

Jacqueline Bisset headlines Fox Family Channel’s “Britannic,” Sunday at 8 p.m. The drama deals with the bigger, “safer” sister of the Titanic that was sunk in 1916 under mysterious circumstances.

Bill Pullman stars in and directed “The Virginian,” Sunday at 8, 10 p.m. and midnight. Diane Lane, Dennis Weaver, John Savage and James Drury, who played the title role in the ‘60s TV series, also star.

In the NBC movie “The David Cassidy Story,” Andrew Kavovitt plays the ‘70s pop idol, Sunday at 9 p.m. Malcolm McDowell is featured as his late father, actor Jack Cassidy.
