Buena Park Man Held for Alleged IRS Interference

A Buena Park business consultant and tax protester has been arrested and ordered held without bail for allegedly interfering with the Internal Revenue Service, authorities said Friday.
Fredrick C. Schuppert, 53, who ran the tax protest group We the People out of his Buena Park office, allegedly falsified IRS seals and letterhead to assist a Murietta businessman who was being investigated by the federal tax agency.
The false letters told potential witnesses in the case to disregard official summonses that had previously been sent by the IRS, the U.S. attorney said.
Schuppert and the Murietta businessman will be arraigned in a Los Angeles federal court Jan. 18. They were indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday.
