Foothill Tech High Parent Nights Slated

Parents wanting information on Foothill Technology High School, slated to open in the fall, are invited to attend parent nights scheduled at various Ventura schools this month.

Parents must submit an application between Jan. 31 and Feb. 11 indicating a school choice for their children for fall.

Applications must be sent to the district office, 120 E. Santa Clara St. Forms can be obtained at the district office, administrative offices of Ventura middle and high schools and online at https://www.foothilltech.org.

The school curriculum primarily will focus on communications and health sciences, said Judy Warner, principal of the new school. The The curriculum also will include career-enhancement classes and mandatory community service.

“When students leave Foothill, they will be prepared for a four- or two-year college or a higher-paying job,” Warner said.

The magnet school will accept 300 freshmen and sophomores for this fall, 300 more students in the fall of 2001 and enrollment will be capped at 900, after 300 more enroll in the fall of 2002. The first class will graduate in June 2003.

Scheduled parents nights:

* Monday, Cabrillo Middle School, cafeteria;

* Jan. 18, Buena High School, little theater;

* Jan. 19, Anacapa Middle School, cafeteria;

* Jan. 20, De Anza Middle School, cafeteria (a Spanish translator will be available);

* Jan. 25, Balboa Middle School, library.

All meetings will begin at 7 p.m.
