The St. Louis offense and Tampa Bay defense, two of the NFL’s strongest units, dominated the Associated Press all-pro team announced Saturday.

Quarterback Kurt Warner, the league’s most valuable player, record-setting running back Marshall Faulk and tackle Orlando Pace were among the four Rams to make the squad.

Defensive tackle Warren Sapp, linebacker Derrick Brooks and safety John Lynch were three of the four Buccaneers voted to the team by a nationwide panel of 50 media members.

Ram defensive end Kevin Carter, who led the league with 17 sacks, was the other St. Louis representative. Tampa Bay fullback Mike Alstott was the fourth Buccaneer on the team, which included 16 AFC players and 11 from the NFC.

Mark Hatley, the Chicago Bears’ vice president of player personnel, agreed to a three-year contract extension. He reportedly was a leading candidate to replace ousted New Orleans Saint general manager Bill Kuharich.

“This is the only place I wanted to be,” Hatley said during a news conference. “I’m committed to being here for the next three years. Hopefully, next year at this time we’ll be watching us playing in the playoffs instead of Buffalo and Tennessee.”
