2 Men Injured in Explosion Identified
Authorities released the names Sunday of two men who were injured in a weekend pipe-testing explosion that killed another man.
Richard Dobsen, 46, was listed in stable condition at Ventura County Medical Center after undergoing surgery on a severely injured left arm, a nursing supervisor said.
Jim Summerland, 53, of Carpinteria was released Saturday after treatment at Community Memorial Hospital for injuries to his head and stomach, a nursing supervisor said.
A third man, 45-year-old Daniel “Craig” Boswell of Oxnard, was killed in the Saturday morning explosion during routine testing at Baker Oil Tools on Fleet Avenue in an industrial section of town.
Officials said the accident occurred about 9:20 a.m. when a compression test malfunctioned, although it was not clear whether the failure was caused by human or mechanical error.
A dispatcher at the local branch of Cal/OSHA said no further information about the investigation would be made available until later in the week.
