Volunteers Sought to Help at Hospice
Volunteers are needed to assist the elderly and their families at the Camarillo Hospice.
Hospice volunteers provide support to patients and their families to prevent isolation during their illness, spokeswoman Janet Rotenberg-Sacks said.
A volunteer training course is scheduled to begin Feb. 8 at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo.
The hospice, which has served Camarillo since 1978, aids those restricted to bed and those who are dying, as well as grieving family members.
President-elect Sandy Nirenberg said community assistance has been the key to the hospice’s success.
“One goal of ours for the coming year and the next is to increase that service,” Nirenberg said. “I know firsthand what great services we are able to provide.”
“It is important that everyone know we are here to help them and it’s also important that everyone knows exactly what we do,” she said.
Those interested in volunteering can contact Rotenberg-Sacks at 389-5897.
