Only a handful of residents came to the San Clemente Community Center on Monday afternoon where Orange County officials were sponsoring a town hall meeting to discuss its plans to develop a commercial airport at the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.

The event was one of several being held throughout Orange County to discuss the contentious airport proposal. Three residents were on hand to hear a presentation from county spokesman Tom Wall, a former Marine pilot who had flown operations out of El Toro while with the Corps. Wall asked those who attended to base their opinions about the airport on documented fact and not speculation or conjecture.
