In a case that explored the tension between police and the media, a jury on Monday found a photojournalist guilty of one misdemeanor count of interfering with Irvine police officers at a fatal accident scene in March.

But the same jury found Tustin-based freelancer David S. Harvey not guilty of two other counts of obstructing officers at the same crash scene. Jurors deadlocked on two counts stemming from a separate crash that occurred in May.

Harvey, who will be sentenced Feb. 3, faces a $1,000 fine and a year in jail. A separate investigation of Harvey’s actions during the second crash led the California Highway Patrol to permanently revoke his press pass.
