Dan Majerle has made a 12-year career out of his three-point shooting, but he’d never had a game like this.

Majerle made nine of 10 three-pointers and scored a season-high 33 points to lead the Miami Heat over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116-106, Tuesday night at Minneapolis.

His nine three-pointers were a career high, and he made six in a row at one point in the second half.

“After my first two in the second half, I felt I had one of those nights going,” Majerle said. “I had made eight once before, but never nine. I’m just old and over the hill, but I can still get it done some nights.”

Majerle’s three-pointers were one short of the Heat’s franchise record of 10, held by Brian Shaw. The NBA record for a game is 11, set by Dennis Scott for the Orlando Magic in 1996.

Shooting 56% overall, Miami led by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter, but Kevin Garnett rallied the Timberwolves. He scored a season-high 35 points, and his two free throws with 1:03 to play got the Timberwolves within 109-104. But another Heat three-pointer, this time by Voshon Lenard, iced the game.

Seattle 101, Phoenix 88--Gary Payton, out to prove he’s the best point guard in the league, had 23 points and 13 assists to lead the SuperSonics over Jason Kidd and the Suns at Seattle.

Kidd, who outplayed Payton earlier this season in Phoenix, had 12 points and 15 assists.

Seattle ended a three-game home losing streak and sent the Suns to their fifth consecutive road loss.

Sacramento 110, Houston 93--Chris Webber had 26 points and 12 rebounds and helped ignite an 11-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter at Sacramento.

Washington 117, Toronto 89--Reserve Aaron Williams scored a season-high 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds at Washington as the Wizards ended a three-game losing streak with seven players scoring in double figures. Toronto lost its their third in a row.

Dallas 109, Golden State 102--Cedric Ceballos scored 29 points as the Mavericks, after blowing nearly all of an 18-point lead, won at Oakland.

It was the 10th consecutive loss for the Warriors, who remained winless in the seven games since Coach Garry St. Jean replaced the fired P.J. Carlesimo.
