Chance of Rain Over Holiday Weekend

The forecast for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend is quiet but wet.

The California Highway Patrol said it does not anticipate an increase in the number of travelers on county roads, but as usual officers issued a warning not to drink and drive or to speed. They also reminded travelers to buckle their seat belts.

“Our past experience is that we don’t have much of an increase so there won’t be any additional patrols or other special things,” said CHP Sgt. Doug Howell.

For those who do venture out, the National Weather Service in Oxnard was forecasting a 50% chance of rain Sunday along with temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s.

Up to an inch of rain could fall, said Curt Kaplan, a federal weather specialist.

“More rain is expected to fall in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties than in Ventura,” Kaplan said.

High clouds were forecast for today along with a 10% chance of rain by midnight. It will be mostly cloudy Monday with a 20% chance of rain in the morning.
