Long Beach State Still Rolling

Forward James Williams scored 15 points and had seven rebounds as Long Beach State extended its winning streak to eight games with a 68-56 Big West Conference victory over Boise State Saturday night at Boise, Idaho.

The victory was the 49ers’ first over Boise State since 1982.

Long Beach (10-3, 2-0 in the conference) outscored Boise State, 17-5, in the final six minutes.

With 5:51 left, Boise State forward Abe Jackson made a three-point shot to tie the score, 51-51. But guard Charles O’Neal scored eight of Long Beach’s final 17 points during its closing run.

Mate Milisa and Ramel Lloyd each scored 14 points for Long Beach, which trailed, 31-28, at halftime.

Guard Clint Hordemann scored 13 points for Boise State (0-2, 6-7), which lost for the fifth time in six games.
