The City Council is slated to vote Tuesday on a proposal to build a facility that would accommodate both a senior and community center to replace or merge with one of three existing community centers in the city.
City Manager Kenneth C. Frank said the new facility is needed because the existing centers are inadequate and overused.
The new center would either replace or merge with the Legion Hall on Legion Street near Catalina Street, Lang Park on Wesley Drive near South Coast Highway, or the Recreation Building next to City Hall.
The council meets 6 p.m. at City Hall, at 505 Forest Ave.
