UCI Arts School Gets Gift of $750,000
The UCI School of the Arts has received a $750,000 gift from Newport Beach residents Robert and Winifred Smith, benefactors who have established music scholarships at the school.
The new gift will be used to renovate the 29-year-old UCI Concert Hall, including installing a new amplification system, stage floor and audience seating, and soundproofing the lobby.
The renovation is expected to be completed by the summer of 2001. The building will be renamed the Winifred Smith Hall.
