The City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve a new senior and community center, citing the need to have a facility that adequately meets the needs of Laguna Beach’s elderly.

Council members decided to approve a center that would replace or merge with one of three centers in the city since they are overused and not capable of accommodating seniors, who make up 25% of the city’s population.

No site or construction date has been determined for the center.
