Eric Lindros can’t return soon enough for the Philadelphia Flyers. The problem is, no one knows--or will say--when that might be.

The Flyers continued to struggle without their injured captain, extending their winless streak to four games Thursday night with a 1-1 tie against the Ottawa Senators at Philadelphia.

Lindros missed his third consecutive game after suffering his third concussion in 22 months last Friday in Atlanta. He skated with the team Thursday morning for the first time since the injury, but the team offered no update on his condition after the game.

Shawn McEachern scored his 19th goal for the Senators, who closed out a 3-1-1 road trip. Valeri Zelepukin scored the Flyers’ first even-strength goal in five games.

“Everyone seems to be pressing a bit,” Neilson said.

Ottawa’s Magnus Arvedson was taken to a hospital after a brutal collision involving Philadelphia’s Marc Bureau with 5:12 left in the third. Arvedson, who collapsed twice while being helped off the ice, had multiple injuries from his head to his groin and was to be held overnight for observation.

Phoenix 2, Buffalo 1--Keith Tkachuk scored a goal and Dallas Drake added a short-handed goal as the Coyotes defeated the Sabres at Phoenix.

Chris Taylor ruined Sean Burke’s shutout attempt, scoring on a rebound with 9:05 left, but the Coyotes regrouped and preserved their Pacific Division-leading 25th win.

New York Rangers 4, Carolina 1--Radek Dvorak and Michael York scored 1:31 apart in the first period as the Rangers defeated the slumping Hurricanes at Raleigh, N.C.

John MacLean’s first goal of two sealed the victory. His empty-net score with 1.4 seconds left was the 400th career goal.

Ron Francis’ goal with 4:05 left broke the shutout bid of Mike Richter, who made 38 saves.

Boston 4, Tampa Bay 2--Byron Dafoe stopped 26 shots and Andre Savage scored a fluke third-period goal as the Bruins won at Tampa, Fla.

Marty McSorley and Joe Thornton had first-period goals for Boston. Jaroslav Svejkovsky, acquired on Monday from Washington, had two goals for Tampa Bay, which fell to 1-13-2 over the last 16 games.
