This will be the 20th anniversary for the ASR trade show, which showcases the products of many local companies that target the surf, skate and snowboard crowd. The show, which is closed to the public, will be at the Long Beach Convention Center from Feb. 5 to 7.

In addition to Oakley, one of the biggest exhibitors will be Lake Forest-based Sole Technology Inc., which makes etnies, eS and Emerica skate shoes.

Another skate shoe maker, Globe LLC, hopes also to make a splash at ASR by unveiling its new Gallas skate shoe for girls and women.

“It’s been pretty hush-hush,” Gallas marketing assistant Carrie Phillips said of the new shoe. “We’re just now telling people in the company in Australia,” where Torrance-based Globe’s parent, Hardcore Enterprises, is located.

The first batch of Gallas is expected to be shipped in the spring. The shoes will come in a variety of basic colors such as black, white and navy, Phillips said. But there won’t be any sissy shades, such as baby pink or powder blue.

“It’s not going to be too girlie,” Phillips said. “It’s definitely a core skate shoe.”

In fact, Gallas will be designed to look much like the men’s Globe line. The shoes will retail for $29.95 to $74.95, the company said.
