Expelled Student Held in Beatings
One of the six Decatur, Ill., high school students expelled for brawling whose cause was championed by civil rights activist Jesse Jackson has been charged with beating an ex-girlfriend and two pregnant women, police said. They said Roosevelt Fuller, 18, was freed on bond after being held overnight in Macon County Jail on preliminary charges of aggravated battery and assault. The arrest followed a fight with his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend and two pregnant friends who were attacked with a broom handle when they intervened.
