The Way Murray Figures, Team Controls Its Destiny
Wednesday morning brought a math lecture.
“We control our own destiny,” King Coach Andy Murray said. “We don’t need anybody to beat anybody else for us.”
He pointed to a board on which he had printed the teams in positions 6-13 in the Western Conference, beginning with San Jose. He listed the points each team has, the games each has played, remaining games at home and away and the number of games each team plays against the others.
Simply put, the Kings are two points behind eighth-place Edmonton, with 35 games to play. Every other team in the West has fewer games to play, giving the Kings opportunities to gain ground.

Stephane Fiset will start in goal for the Kings tonight at Nashville. He opened the season with a 2-0 shutout of the Predators.
