The Tustin-based YMCA of Orange County is kicking off its fund-raiser, Goal for 2000 Support Campaign, in February, hoping to raise $1 million to provide financial aid for child care and to finance various scholarships.

More than 900 volunteers will be seeking donations during February by contacting more than 20,000 residents and business owners.

Among the volunteers will be Tustin resident Anne Monroe, a bartender and mother of two. Her son attends a YMCA-sponsored day care--which she said really helps ends meet--and Monroe wants to return the favor.

“The YMCA has been a lifesaver for me,” she said.
