Adele Watson; Ojai Resident

Ojai resident Adele Watson died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 98.

Watson was born Jan. 15, 1902, in New York City and was a 15-year Ventura County resident after moving to Ojai from Anaheim.

Watson’s family said she was a homemaker and an accomplished cook who enjoyed hosting parties at her home.

She was affectionately known as “Grandma Poundcake” because of the lemon poundcake that she made and sold to local restaurants for several years.

Watson is survived by her daughter, Florence Klein of Ojai; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Watson, and her son, Charles Watson.

There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Monday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura with Pastor James Lair of the Church of the Living Christ officiating.

A private burial is scheduled for a later date at Westminster Memorial Park in Los Angeles County.
