Plane Hits Fence After Landing; 2 Uninjured
Two people escaped injury Saturday when their single-engine plane spun out of control and hit a fence after landing at Whiteman Airpark in Pacoima.
The pilot of the two-seat Globe Swift aircraft had problems as he approached the runway, Los Angeles Fire Battalion Chief Tony Varela said. The plane touched down but then spun into a fence.
The front part of the plane was badly damaged, but neither the pilot nor his passenger were injured.
The plane was built in 1946, according to aircraft records and is registered to Barrett Bingaman of Shadow Hills. He could not be reached for comment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The crash did not delay any air traffic at the airfield, authorities said.
