L.A. County July 4 Celebrations
Cities and communities across Los Angeles County are hosting marching bands, barbecue fare, fireworks and other Americana in celebration of the Fourth of July. All events listed take place today unless otherwise noted.
ALHAMBRA--Almansor Park, 800 S. Almansor St. A festival with food, games and entertainment, followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Free.
BALDWIN PARK--Sierra Vista High School, 3600 Frazier Blvd. Music begins at 5 p.m., followed by fireworks. Free.
BELL GARDENS--John Anson Ford Park, 8000 Scout Ave. Carnival and fireworks at 9 p.m. Free.
BURBANK--Starlight Bowl, 1249 Lockheed View Drive. The Bill Elliot Swing Orchestra headlines the annual All-American Celebration music and fireworks show from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Grass seating is $5; other seating ranges from $10 to $20; parking is $2. Gates open for picnicking at 6 p.m.
CALABASAS--Calabasas High School, 22855 W. Mulholland Highway. The third annual Fourth of July Spectacular, from 7 to 9:45 p.m. The program includes music, a moon bounce, arts and crafts, food booths and fireworks. Admission is $6; tickets must be purchased in advance at De Anza Park or Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center.
CASTAIC--Castaic Lake Recreation Area, 32132 Ridge Route Road. A pyro-musical fireworks display begins at 8:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for walk-ins, $20 per vehicle.
CERRITOS--Whitney High School, 16800 Shoemaker Ave. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Free.
CLAREMONT--Claremont McKenna College, Burns Stadium, 890 Columbia Ave. Fireworks set to music. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Admission $5.50 prepaid at the park or $8 at the gate (if not sold out) for ages 3 and over.
COMMERCE--Rosewood Park, 2433 Commerce Way. Music, food and games from noon to 6 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Free.
CUDAHY--Cudahy Park, 5220 Santa Ana St. Pony rides, games, music and entertainment beginning at 2 p.m. Fireworks begin at 8:45 p.m. Free.
CULVER CITY--Culver City High School, 4300 Elenda Ave. Gates open 5 p.m. for picnics. A country-western band plays at 7:30, followed by fireworks. Donations appreciated.
EL SEGUNDO--El Segundo Recreational Park, 401 Sheldon St. Food and game booths from noon to 5 p.m.; live music begins at 6 and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Free.
GLENDORA--Citrus College, 1000 W. Foothill Blvd. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Free.
HOLLYWOOD BOWL--2301 N. Highland Ave. The fireworks show goes on after an appearance by singer-songwriter-guitarist Glen Campbell and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by John Mauceri. Tickets, various prices.
HUNTINGTON PARK--Huntington Park High School, 6020 Miles Ave. Gates open at 5 p.m. Music and entertainment, including the Huntington Park High School band and a local ballet folklorico, precedes the fireworks show at dusk. Free.
INGLEWOOD--Edward Vincent Jr. Park, 700 Warren Lane. Music and other festivities beginning at 3 p.m., followed by fireworks at dusk. Free.
IRWINDALE--Irwindale Rock Quarry, 5050 N. Irwindale Ave. Celebration begins at noon with food booths and family entertainment, followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Free. LA CRESCENTA--Crescenta Valley High School, 4400 Ramsdell Ave. Gates open at 4 p.m. for carnival rides, swing dancing, entertainment and food booths. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Admission $7, free for children 5 and younger.
LA HABRA--La Habra High School, 801 W. Highlander Ave. Fireworks, 9 p.m. $1.
LA PUENTE--Victory Outreach Church, 454 Coberta Ave. Extravaganza with food, games, rides and entertainment; 1 to 11 p.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m.
LA VERNE--Bonita High School, 3102 D St. Daylong activities starting with pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., fireworks at 9 p.m. Day events free, night events are $6 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12.
LAKE VIEW TERRACE--Entertainment and food at Hansen Dam recreation area starting at 1 p.m.; fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Foothill Boulevard and Osborne Street.
LANCASTER--Fireworks at Municipal Stadium, 2400 West Ave. I. Fireworks, 10 p.m.
LAWNDALE--Music, games and food at Leuzinger High School stadium, 4118 W. Rosecrans Ave. starting at 6 p.m., fireworks at 9. Free.
LONG BEACH--Veterans Stadium, 5000 Lew Davis Drive. Fireworks display, concert and a canine unit demonstration. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., fireworks at 9. $8; ages 5-11 and seniors, $6.
* Queen Mary, 1126 Queens Highway, end of Long Beach Freeway. Fireworks at 9 p.m.; carnival in the Queen Mary Events Park today from noon to 11 p.m. Carnival, fireworks and live music included in Queen Mary general admission, $17; $15 for seniors and military; and $13 for children 3-11. Parking is $10.
* Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, 100 Aquarium Way. A barbecue dinner and music along with choice seating for the Queen Mary fireworks nearby. The aquarium opens at 9 a.m. Admission is $7.95-$14.95, plus $12.95 for the dinner.
LYNWOOD--Lynwood City Park, 3798 Martin Luther King Blvd. Fireworks, 9 p.m. Admission is free.
MARINA DEL REY--South jetty off main channel. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Free.
MAYWOOD--Maywood Park, 4801 E. 58th St. Fireworks display at 9 p.m. Free.
MONTEBELLO--Grant Rea Park, 600 N. Rea Drive. Music and food, beginning at 4 p.m. with fireworks at 9. Free.
MONTEREY PARK--Barnes Park, 320 S. McPherrin Ave. Entertainment, hay rides, moon bounce and games begin at 1 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Free.
NORTHRIDGE--Cal State Northridge, North Campus Stadium. At 2 p.m. gates open for the “Valley of the Stars and Stripes,” an Independence Day celebration offering food booths, children’s rides and games along with the performances of three bands beginning at 3 p.m. Fireworks will cap the evening at 9 p.m. Tickets, $8; children under 12 and seniors, $5.
NORWALK--Cerritos College, 11110 E. Alondra Blvd. Christian bands sponsored by Calvary Chapel in Downey, beginning at 7 p.m., a message at 8 and fireworks at 9. Free.
PACIFIC PALISADES--Palisades High School, 15777 Bowdoin St. Music begins at 7 p.m., fireworks at dusk. Free.
PALMDALE--Palmdale High School, Riewer Field, 20th Street E. Festivities begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9. Free.
PALOS VERDES ESTATES--Rolling Hills Prep School, 300A Paseo del Mar. Bicycle parade, apple pie contest, puppet show, community awards and live music from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free.
PASADENA--Rose Bowl, 1001 Rose Bowl Drive. The Galaxy soccer team plays the Columbus Crew at 7:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:30. General admission $11 to $30. Gates open at 5:45 p.m.; parking, $10 to $30.
PICO RIVERA--El Rancho High School, 6501 S. Passons Blvd. Food, game booths, entertainment begin at 5 p.m. Fireworks, 9 p.m. Admission: $4, $3 prepaid.
POMONA--Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave. Kaboom Classic Car Show, 13th annual Fourth of July fair and show. Also, children’s carnival, craft show, fireworks. 3 to 9:30 p.m.
REDONDO BEACH--Redondo Beach Pier, Pacific Coast Highway. Music begins at 4:30 p.m. with fireworks at 9 above King Harbor. Free.
ROSEMEAD--Rosemead Park, 4343 Encinitas Ave. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Free.
SAN MARINO--Lacy Park, 1485 Virginia Road. Parade at 5 p.m. at Monterey Road and Huntington Drive, continues to Lacy Park, with food, Dixieland music and fireworks at 8:30. Free.
SANTA CLARITA--Jugglers, strolling entertainers, clowns, face painters and live music start at 7 p.m. on a stage at Citrus Street and Magic Mountain Park Way, adjacent to Valencia Town Center, 24201 W. Valencia Blvd. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Free.
* Stevenson Ranch, near Rioux Memorial Park, 26233 Faulkner Drive. Fireworks, 9 p.m. Free.
* More than 100 horses, between 30 and 40 floats, and high school bands form the annual parade, a tradition since 1932. Begins at 9:45 a.m. at William S. Hart Park, 8341 De Longpre Ave in Newhall; route continues through old town Newhall and ends at Newhall Park, at Dalbey Drive and Newhall Avenue, home of the Santa Clarita Country Fair. The fair will include concerts, food and carnival rides. Free entrance to fair.
SANTA FE SPRINGS--Los Nietos Park, 11143 Charlesworth Road. Activities include a horseshoe tournament at 10 a.m., food booths and live bands at noon and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Free.
SAN FERNANDO--Recreation Park, 208 Park Ave. Dancing, games and food starting at 1 p.m., fireworks at dusk. Free.
SAN PEDRO--Fireworks begin at Cabrillo Beach at 9 p.m. at Pacific Avenue and Stephen White Drive.
SIERRA MADRE--Memorial Park, 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. Parade at Sunnyside Avenue and Sierra Madre Boulevard beginning at 10 a.m., all-day festival at the park. Free.
SOUTH GATE--South Gate City Park, 4900 Southern Ave. at Tweedy Boulevard. Fireworks, 9 p.m. Free.
SOUTH PASADENA--Garfield Park, corner of Mission Street and Marengo Avenue. Parade begins at Meridian and Mission streets at 1 p.m., ends at Garfield Park with food and games. Free.
TORRANCE--Charles Wilson Park, 2200 Crenshaw Blvd. Food, games, mini train ride, moon bounce, giant slide and arts and crafts booths. Begins at 11 a.m. and ends with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Free; $5 parking; free shuttle. No alcohol.
VALENCIA--Six Flags Magic Mountain, 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway. The annual “Strictly USA” celebration from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with fireworks, live music and dancing. The events are included with Magic Mountain admission, which ranges from $20.50 to $40. Park guests may also pay $8.95 to join the “Great American Picnic,” which runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Picnic includes all-you-can-eat chicken dinner, face painting, games and entertainment and VIP seating for the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show.
VALLEY GLEN--Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave. Singer Cuba Gooding Sr. headlines the fourth annual Fourth of July event. Events begin at 3 p.m., fireworks start at 9. Free.
WALNUT--Walnut High School, 400 Pierre Road. Fireworks, 9 p.m. $5 for adults, $3 for children, ages 3-12.
WEST COVINA--West Covina High School stadium, Cameron and Lark Ellen streets. Free carnival starting at 1 p.m., fireworks begin at 9.
WEST HOLLYWOOD--Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. Carnival games, musical entertainment and free hamburgers, noon to 3 p.m. Free.
WHITTIER--York Field, 9110 Santa Fe Springs Road. Entertainment and the annual fireworks show. Gates open at 5 p.m. and fireworks begin at 9 p.m. $5 for adults, children under 12 and seniors free.
