Sport Chalet Inc. of La Canada Flintridge announced the promotions of Howard Kaminsky to executive vice president of finance and Jeff Lichtenstein to vice president of loss prevention and risk management.
Kaminsky is responsible for the financial management of the company. Lichtenstein is responsible for inventory control, safety in stores and warehouses and internal auditing.
Sport Chalet operates 22 full-service specialty sporting goods and services retail stores.

William C. McGinnis has been promoted to chief operating officer at National Technical Systems Inc. in Calabasas. He will be responsible for all operations.
NTS provides quality and compatibility testing and staffing services for telecommunications, information technology and other industries.

Dennis Kovalsky has been promoted from general manager to vice president of aerospace coatings and sealants at PPG Industries in Glendale.
PPG Industries Inc., based in Pittsburgh, makes transportation, industrial and packaging coatings, glass, fiber glass and chemicals at 120 manufacturing plants in 23 countries.

John E. Poturny has been appointed national sales manager for Micro Plastics Inc. in Chatsworth. Poturny will direct the company’s overall sales efforts.
Micro Plastics manufactures plastic component encapsulation cups, custom molding and electronic edgecard connectors.

Maria Higgins has been hired as controller of Dick Clark Productions Inc. of Burbank. She will oversee all financial reporting functions.
Dick Clark Productions is an independent producer of television programming and live entertainment events.

Toni Graham has been promoted to vice president of research and development and professional services unit at Vertel Corp. in Woodland Hills.
Graham fills the position vacated by Cyrus Irani, now president and chief operating officer of the company.
Vertel provides mediation software for telecommunications networks.

John M. Littler has been named senior vice president and product line executive for contract surety insurance products for Amwest Insurance Group Inc. in Calabasas.
Littler will assume full responsibility for the line, including underwriting and marketing.
